Tim Holtz Distress Paints - CHA Canvas Class

Blank burlap canvas (ideaology) Canvas is on a block, rather than a frame so you can hammer and build all over it.

Distress stain to color a tag with an image stamped in black archival ink

\
Glue tag to burlap with matte medium.  i use this to glue EVERYTHING it holds metal, paper, glass, plastic...

Use tissue tape (washi) to create decorations

glob embossing paste on your canvas to add dimension.  This is really fun if you use a stencil, and the embossing paste gives both pattern and dimension
use the side of the craft scrapper under the "R" in ranger to get a flat edge.

Another stamped image in archival...cut out using the Sizzix EClips Machine and matching Tim Holtz cartridges.  Color with distress markers.

Blend the markers using a water brush.  Add a water color look when blending by scribbling your distress marker on the craft sheet and pick up the color with the water brush.

Distress the edges with Walnut stain distress ink on blending foam.

New Sizzix Tim Holtz die (Picture wheel) cut out of grunge board (and cut in half).  Distress with ink and paint.  Note: the die fits your photo proof sheets perfectly to make your own view master :-)

add ink to age other ephermera (these are from the ideaology line)

Another new Sizzix die (finger and mustache mini set), covered in Distress Rock Candy Crackle.  Work ink into the cracks.

Spritz with water.  Cleans the areas that sparkle and works the dark color into the recesses.

Here are all the bits for our collage that we have so far.

Use pop dots to layer the compass pieces.  Stamp is new Tim Holtz.  Note that the eclips machine cuts layers out of stamped images so you can piece and layer as you with.  The metal arrow spinner has been painted with Distress paints.

Tim's new Distress Paints.  They are permanant on paper, chipboard, grungeboard, metal, glass, plastic.  It's a very fluid, inky, opaque paint.

Shake, shake, shake...action shot

Push down to open the valve and get the paint flowing.

work paint around your canvas with your finger...it will wipe off with a baby wipe.

Distress Paint reacts with water (of course) so move it around with a damp paper towel to get the look you want.

use a little black distress paint to pop the edges. blend it with water to soften the look.

Remember, you can work across lots of surfaces: the burlap, tissue tape, embossing paste.  Once dry, the paint is PERMANENT on all these surfaces and will NOT run with another layer of water, paint or ink.

Paint on metal key to alter.

Use the tiny attacher to affix Ideaology Filmstrip ribbon to the grugeboard picture wheel.

Tiny attacher will also work through metal.  Just commit to the staple :-) don't be hesitant

Use a memo pin to attach a charm

Ideaology Chit Chat colored with a distress marker.

Start gluing your bits down (with matte medium).  The mustache is another new sizzix die, covered in dry distress glitter and colored with Black Alcohol Ink.

Metal corners painted with Distress Paint
